This is the beginning of the Napaland Stories

We have some exciting news! We started a family business, and next summer we want to invite guests on board to experience the fantastic archipelago and the ship life with us. The outlook for next summer is, that near is the new far, so why not spend your holidays traveling and experiencing familiar things from a new perspective here in Finland or nearby in the Baltic Sea?

This is the Finland we would like you to see with us

There are some truly fantastic things to see in our archipelago, from the smooth, bare rocks of the outer islands to lush green forests, crystal clear lakes, crooked little fishing huts to mystical lighthouse islands, big port cities, rough fishing harbors, cosy rural island communities and endless amounts of private, quiet natural harbors. The lively archipelago has also a great selection of high quality restaurants, quirky museums, small cafés and shops offering local cuisines.

“Near is the new far”

We have our background in sailing to areas where other boats don’t often go. We have fallen in love with exploring the Northernmost regions of the Baltic Sea, where other sailing boats are much more rare sight and the distances between harbors are longer allowing some open sea sailing. The coastal communities there have really cool history as trading ports for sailing cargo ships and are still working with the sea and fishing as their livelihood and the seas are a bit colder, sharper, clear and beautiful.

“The seas are a bit colder, sharper, clear and beautiful”

We welcome land lubbers who never stepped in a boat in their life and experienced sailors and boat owners wanting to experience sailing in a bigger ship and with a bigger crew. Our ship is a bit different from a usual sailing yacht and gives a different kind of sailing experience for those who are used to roam the coastline with their own boats. For first time sailors we have some encouraging words: Arktika is a stable, heavy boat and requires a fair bit of wind and waves to be swung around.

We have had many first-time sailors on board with us before, enjoying their holidays with the new element ocean. We are well capable for heavy offshore sailing, but as the weather forecasts are very accurate these days, we do not need to go out all volvo ocean race style unless we really want to. The Baltic Sea is actually a fantastic sailing area for beginners: there are not many places in the world where you can sail in such a sheltered archipelago, with a nice steady breeze, no swell and thousands of beautiful natural harbors and anchorages to seek shelter in, whenever you feel like it’s time to stop!

We think sailing and adventure is for anyone who is ready and willing to experience it. We are a family friendly operation and welcome guests of any age in most of our trips. Our own kids love being on board and they started sailing with us since they were just a few weeks old. Feel free to contact us if you want to hear more about life on board and discuss if a sailing holiday is a suitable adventure for you and your family!
